Sunshine Community Services Center entered collaborative agreements with Literacy
Volunteers of Illinois (LVI) and the Black Hawk College Community Education Center
in February of 2014 to provide tutoring, assistance, and supportive services for
Step Ladder Tutoring students, GED, juveniles at the Illinois Youth Center, and
families in the community.

We later began assisting the English as a Second Language (ESL) Programs
when they reemerged in 2017. The former juvenile facility (IYC) transitioned to
an adult facility, we no longer serve there, but AmeriCorps members continued to
help and serve innumerous other agencies and capacities in our community.
